ITS here! Its here! Hallejuha! The New Family Parents are entering what they understand to be the best of times, that period between 3 and 9 months when the Parents get a brief reprieve to believe that they are normal anddoing things right. That is, EJ and Liesel have taken to substantially regular sleeping patterns, they are smiling and interacting, growing and developing, and they have no disconcerting behaviors or medical issues.
Wooo-hooo, yeah-haw, and other exclamations.
The New Family Parents are no longer sleeping in shifts. They still have to wake at night to feed and expect to continue this for another month or more.
The Parents have recently become aware of the importance of daytime naps on their nighttime sleep quality and duration. To oversimplify, the more and better their naps during the day, the more they sleep at night and the better their sleep quality. "Better" here means quiet and motionless. Their naps taken while bouncing in a carrier or carseat are not as good as their naps in a cradle at home. Their awake behaviors have improved too. They are less cranky and more enjoyable.
Both are beginning to imitate Mommy (Dad feels left out). EJ imitates Mommy more than Liesel. In addition to smiling, he now tries to emulate Mommy's "uh-oh" sounds. He also has a broad "vocabulary" of grunts, shrieks, and other vocalizations that may be rudimentary language, though the Parents know not what they mean.
Liesel is ready to step up to a larger nipple size for her Doc Brown bottles. Hopefully the 45 minute feedings will contract while she continues to not spit-up.
As mentioned before, both can now hold their heads upright. Now the Parents will try having them sit upright without tumbling over. Next they'll start driving lessons. Okay, maybe not.
