Excercise with the Twins

DAD's exercise routine has been seriously dampened as a result of Mom’s return to work. He can no longer afford the luxury of devoting 90 minutes every other day to intense circuit training. Thus, he has had to get creative.

90 minutes? Give me a break Dad! What? Are you just bragging? Actually, only about an hour of that time is spent working out. The rest of the time is set up, warm up, break down, and shower. However, stringing 90 consecutive minutes together is impossible. Someone is always in need of bottle, burp, diaper change, or huggy-lovey and, if not right now then just wait a minute.

So, he’s traded the high cardio, sweat inducing, super intense training for less intensive anaerobic moves.

Plié (ballet squats) with a baby on your chest anyone? Do that five times slowly enough not to startle Little Miss or Little Mister and you’ll have accomplished something. You can move up and down, or you can hold the position for a timed period.

The upper body moves are still evolving, but so far he has figured out how to curl the kids while they are secured in their infant carriers. Again, because they are startled if Dad moves too fast, he does it nice and slow, over and over and over again.

It is actually harder for Dad to curl EJ and carrier (weight about 20 lbs.) slowly than it is for Dad to curl his 35 lbs. dumbbell quickly for the same number of reps.
