Ethan and Elizabeth (a.k.a. E2 ) were born @ 7:59 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. respectively on Monday morning as as scheduled. They are both healthy with APGAR scores of 9 each. E.J. was 5 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 1/4" long. Liesel was 5 lbs. 6 oz. and 18 1/2" long.
Pictures are coming real soon. Thanks for your patience. Dad can only update the blog from home and so must make it brief sans pictures. He needs to be back at the hospital to assist in feedings soon. He hopes to have them up by 3:00 Thursday.
Learning to feed has been a steep curve for both the New Family Parents and Children. We remain adaptable and pragmatic in our approach.
Each have their own personality. E.J. is easily soothed and somewhat laid back. Liesel is more fussy. She has slightly more brown hair than he does. Her face is round, while his is elongated.
Momma is recovering nicely. She could be released Thursday, Friday at the latest.
The rhythm of life has been feed, check and change, rest and repeat every three hours. Last night the nursing staff accelerated that to every two to stem their weight loss. It is a full time job except they don't get off at 5 p.m. to go home. It is satisfying, but tiring.
Visitation concerns the Parents. The well wishing from friends and family on Monday was overwhelming. Momma responded to as many as she could, but she really has to focus on new responsibilities. The two visitors that came took too much energy and over stimulated the kids. They need to set boundaries. Please accept their apologies in advance if they are not ready for visitors before the end of next week.
They look forward to bringing them home and showing them off to every one!
