Nap Time Over

WITH nap time over, Dad simply took the Twins out of their cribs, put them down on the floor, and left the room (he did secure Buggy's explorer cap on her).

First out the room was Buddy, eager to catch up with Dad (and clean the floor).

Buggy, a bit more tired, was a tad tentative.

But that did not last long.

The object of her interest lay in another direction. Buddy, in the foreground, inspects the hearth-stone padding.

A teething Buggy, at this end of the hall (a.k.a. raceway), wants to explore Room that is Off Limits.

EJ is still content with the fireplace. Here he checks to see that the screen is secure.

She joins the family only briefly while passing through on her way to other places.

Buddy takes note of her visit.

And then she is off.

Uh oh, an impediment! Someone (finally got off his lazy a** and) put a baby gate up! What will she do?

This requires contemplation. And heavy binky sucking.

Finally, a new interest presents itself and she scurries to take advantage of it.

EJ, not too impressed with all of the drama, continues with his own play. 

Nope. Not the least bit interested. These rings and this Swiffer duster are enough entertainment for him.

Snack Time

PLAYTIME can cause big hunger, thus necessitating a snack break. At this point in their lives, Dad is superfluous at feeding time as that they can feed themselves.

He still does have a little value left in preparing the bottles. The Twins can't do that yet. But he has seen the writing on the wall.

Standing Up, Falling Down

AT this point in their lives, the New Family Twins are actively working at standing and staying standing up. Liesel can pull herself upright and regularly does so. EJ cannot yet (will not?), but if put in an upright position, he can maintain it for a while.

Donning her investigative cap and thought focusing binky, "She-lock" prepares for another adventure.

Buggy has not learned how to protect her head during a fall so she gets to wear the Thudgard helmet when she is outside of the padded play space. Buddy instinctively tucks his head when he falls and so does not need one. He is, however, very sensitive and will cry out in surprise on the rare occasion he falls. Buggy rarely cries when she falls. She is eerily silent when her head goes thud.

While in the play space, her head is protected by thick yoga mats, though they do not cover the entire area and she does seem to find the protective voids.

The padding extends to Buggy's crib where she could bang her head against the top rails.

Snow Day!

THE possibility of being snowed in by a forecasted mega-snow caused many schools and businesses to close early or not open at all today. The New Family Mom's employer opted for the latter and let its people work from home.

Ooooh, the anticipation! The excitement! A snow day, a day where, when you were a child, you got to do something different than the ordinary, everyday, boring routine. No matter how much you loved school, the excitement and possibility afforded by a day off, a chance to do something different, was always tantalizing. What was too much snow for the adults was just enough snow for fun for kids.

Snowmageddon is on its way!

The Twins are too young yet for sledding down hills, skating on ponds, or venturing out in cold weather for extended periods, but just the right age for extra-special attention.

Mom cuddles her Buggy on a snow day.

On lunch, Mom snatched up the New Family children willy-nilly for huggy-lovey. It was a snatch, hug, giggle, nuzzle, and kiss fest.

Dad's job was child care while Mom worked. Here he was to keep Bugaboo's face from impacting the table edge. He failed, but only because Bug was so determined to explore the contents of the table top.

Bugaboo reassess the situation.

Bug does a cost benefit analysis of further reaching-for-table-top-object actions versus possibly more face pain. She decides to move on.

"Let's inspect these diapers. I see some non compliant examples."

Taking a cue from Mom while she works, Liesel plays pretend and gets into character. She pretends to be a surveyor, a healthcare facility auditor.

"[Do] You really think this meets accreditation standards?"

"I'll need to increase my sample population by one more."

"Oops! Heh heh? Pretend time is over. Remember how much you love me!"

"So I am outta here now. Bye!"

The hallway above is a race track for the Twins to traverse back and forth. They love going from end to end and being amazed at what they find there.

Buggy's rear end slides out from underneath her.

There is a slight S curve they have to negotiate which causes speeders to sometimes lose control. Open doors to other rooms also occasionally distract crawlers from their destination.

Having arrived safely, Buddy greets her.

Buddy loves his new bouncer. Not only is it not pink, but it has a much higher bounce height.

EJ shows off his budding teeth.

Babbling at each other.

"Walking" on her knees toward a toy...

...and falling over.

The Thudguard has proven its worth many times over. Above, Liesel's head would've otherwise hit the the bouncer frame.

Someone needs to tell Dad play time is over. Off to bed now.
