Its Pat
WHETHER it is Pat the Bunny, Pat-a-cake, or Pattaburp, it is the Twin's time to exhibit the patting motion. And they do over and over and over again.
It first came to Dad's attention when, while strapped into her car seat during a recent trip, he reached out to offer Liesel a rice puff to bribe her silence. She grabbed Dad's wrist with one hand and began to pat his arm with the other. When he tried to withdraw, she objected, but the frown quickly faded when she was able to continue patting him. And she did to her own glee.
Dad pointed the behavior out to Mom to which Mom replied that Bugaboo has been doing that for some time now. Really? And he just then noticed it?
Now he cannot not notice it. They both do it constantly.
Suddenly it occurred to him that pat was not merely a synonym for "pet" in the soft toy-book Pat the Bunny, nor one to substitute for a clap as in the game Pat-a-cake, but an actual pat as appropriate for near 10 month old behavior.
